There were many things that came up in the time we spent together.  One thing that disappointed me a little is that Shiro doesn't drink at all.  His father was a big drinker and he knows that I drink and said he was sorry we couldn't have drinks together.   He said that if he just has a sip of alcohol his face turns red and his heart beat speeds up.  I think that in about 70 or 80 percent of Japanese that have a drink-- their faces turn red.  It is a physical thing.  Many girls don't like to drink for this reason.  And many girl do, despite the red face.  We talked about my trip to Russia and my stay with Elena (a great fan of Toshiro Mifune) and her family.  All in all we had a very pleasant afternoon together-- at least I thought it was.  I will make another visit sometime this year-- so if there is anything you would like to say to Shiro or ask him, let me know and I will try to pass it on.
